STAND UP PADDLEBOARD PILATES

The calm waters of Mission Bay create a studio space like no other. We’ll start with a brief paddleboard and anchoring orientation, then enjoy a short paddle to our pilates destination. Once anchored, you’ll be guided through a 45-minute pilates flow designed to build strength, balance, and body awareness. No prior paddleboarding or pilates experience is required. Just come ready to move and enjoy the water.

What Will I Learn?

  • Safety on the Water
    • Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs)
    • Paddling Safely in a Group
  • Basic Paddle Techniques
  • Setting an Anchor
  • Attaching Your Paddle to Your Line
  • Practice a guided Pilates Sequence

Is this the right class for me?

This class is the right class for anyone looking to build strength, improve balance, and enjoy time on the water. Pilates enthusiasts and paddlers of all levels are encouraged to take part in this rewarding experience.

Requirements

  • SUP Pilates is an entry-level class with no required prerequisites or prior experience.
  • This class is open to all participants aged 14 and up.
  • A general liability waiver is required to participate. Anyone under 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent or legal guardian.
  • Participants must acknowledge that they are water safe (able to swim 50 meters and comfortably tread water).

How to Prepare

We provide participants with the necessary equipment and instruction. Wear comfortable clothes and dress in layers. The temperature can feel much cooler than expected once you are on the water, so it is a good idea to bring a jacket, even on warm days. Note that when launching from and returning to the beach, you will be getting your feet and calves wet. We highly recommend that you bring a towel and/or a change of clothes in case you fall into the water. Paddleboarding is a watersport that comes with the inherent risk of getting wet. For any lesson, we also recommend bringing sunscreen and a refillable water bottle. MBAC has a water bottle refilling station, but food and drink are not available for purchase at MBAC. Parking can be a challenge at MBAC, especially during the summer months. Please visit our parking page for more information.

What's Next?

If you enjoyed this course and would like to continue paddling, we recommend signing up for a SUP Yoga or Moonlight Paddle session!
